Features
Indicates when water has reached pasteurization temperatures.
Great for use with solar cookers or Rocket Stoves.
Upgraded design with stainless steel cord and brass end caps that wont melt when used on hot fire.
The Water Pasteurization Indicator (WAPI) allows users to determine when liquid has been pasteurized. Pasteurization is the process of heating a fluid for a giving period of time, typically water or milk, to a temperature that kills disease causing organisms. A WAPI contains a special soy wax that melts when the liquid is heated enough to be pasteurized, providing the user with a visual indicator that the water has reached safe pasteurization temperatures 65 deg C (149 deg F) for the 4-6 minutes required. The Super WAPI is an upgraded version of the standard WAPI and incorporates a stainless steel cord and brass fittings.
Most people think its necessary to boil water to make it safe to drink. However, you can make safe drinking by using the pasteurization process. Using a WAPI saves time and fuel by eliminating the need to bring the liquid to a boil.
Safety Notice: Pasteurization does not remove dangerous chemicals. Pasteurization is not the same as sterilization, which is achieved at much higher temperatures.
